Douglas Opoku Agyeman

Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Projects Coordinator

Douglas Opoku Agyeman is the National Projects Coordinator of Patriots Ghana. He plays a crucial role in driving initiatives that foster community development and social change. He holds an MPhil in Marketing and serves as a Research Assistant in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School.

Douglas’s dedication to improving the social conditions of his community and country is evident in his work. While at the University of Cape Coast, he co-founded the Patriots Ghana Chapter with two other committed students. Their goal was to promote selfless leadership and volunteerism by engaging students in rural community development initiatives. During his three-year leadership term, Douglas successfully recruited over 50 students who participated in various community development projects.

One of his notable initiatives was the Patriots Reading Project, aimed at improving educational standards and reading habits among students. This project was inspired by his research on the declining standards of education in the Cape Coast Metropolis in 2013. Under his leadership, the team organized public health awareness campaigns in Junior High Schools and provided student volunteers to support the Ghana Health Services’ national immunization programs.

Douglas’s commitment to community service and leadership did not go unnoticed. He was one of only two Ghanaians selected to lead a community development initiative for the University of Hong Kong in deprived communities in the Northern and Ashanti regions of Ghana. Additionally, he gained valuable experience as an intern with the Cheerful Hearts Foundation’s Public Health and Child Labour and Trafficking Project from 2013 to 2015.

Currently, Douglas is pursuing a PhD in Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship at the University of Wollongong, Australia. His ultimate goal is to leverage his knowledge and experiences to contribute to national development in Ghana.
